MIME

Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) is an Internet standard that extends the format of e-mail to support:

• text in character sets other than US-ASCII;
• non-text attachments;
• message bodies with multiple parts; and
• header information in non-ASCII character sets.
